Our History

Most of the history and myths of the Priory of Sion has been prolifically endorsed. The Priory of Sion’s history is not so simple, nor is it necessarily entirely factual. History, as they say is written by the victors.

It is estimated that there are now some 12+13 “Priories of Sion” that have naturally proliferated, partly since the publication of the highly controversial book of the time; “Holy blood holy Grail” by Henry Lincoln et al, 1983 and of course the Da Vinchi code 2006, also in part due to resent Grand masters returning to being “Unknown Superiors”, thus the line of transmission has become obscured.

Each Priory, naturally claims a Nautonnier, or Grand master to guide them from the helm. In this sense, le Prieuré de Sion (Rectifé) is no different; it naturally has a Nautonnier (as per Ancient Patent) guiding its members on their spiritual Grail quest.

Our Story

The official Birth of Christ and the Essenic influence.

Original Gnostic Christianity continues up to the present. Early Christianity was spread to Egypt by St Mark.

The Desert Fathers and Mothers; secret (Sion) heretical knowledge was believed to have been transmitted via St Mark and later St Anthony et al.

Marked the legendary founding of the Priory by Godfrey of Bouillon.

Is celebrated by the Priory, as shown in the “Le Rouleau du Paradis” (the paradise scroll) as the date of the pre-founding and organising of the Knights Templar circa 1119.

The legendary “cutting of the Elm”- the Priory goes its separate way from the Templars.

1307

A small group of Templars are believed to have fled to Mull and their secrets passed on via Scotish freemasons.

The Paradise Scroll was transmitted by the Templars.

Appeared the Visconti and later the Marsailes tarot; both major influences regarding the Priory’s secret teachings.

The Rosicrucian (the Priory by another name) text “The Chemical wedding” surfaced.

Sion in the guise of the Masonic Rite of Strict Observance, was born.

The English transition of “Sion” via the Ansons’ of Shugborough hall, across the East Midlands took hold and was transmitted in secret via several families.

Demonstrates via a French scroll found near St Sulpice, Paris that the Priory was in existence in France by that name.

Father Saunier and the Rennes le Château saga began.

The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered in Egypt.

Marks the “official” registration of the Priory in France.

Our Hemshan received the highest degree in Sion (9 Nautonier) in the South of France by the Grand master of the Priory.

The Priory of Sion became known as The Priory of Sion “Rectified” to correct the errors and reform the abuses. It surfaces in the public domain.
